Grade 1 Assembly

We had our Grade 1 assembly today! Thank you to all of the family members that were able to come watch us perform. We were very proud of how we sang to share our learning about the three pillars of care. We hope you enjoyed it :)

This week we practiced going onto Raz Kids on the iPads. Thank you for sending in labeled headphones in a ziplock bag if you are able to. I can show you how I log in Raz Kids at home. Log in information was sent home last week.

We continue to practice our reading stamina. We learned that our reading stamina are our reading muscles. As a class, we are able to read for 8 minutes fully focused on our book. Please continue to read to me everyday and have me read my home reading book with you daily. We are working on "read to self" and "read to someone". Here are some examples of what good readers do and what it looks like:

We had so much fun going to a different park today with our buddies. Ask me to tell you waht kind of games I played on the playground with my big buddy.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The term plan specifies curricular outcomes that the grade will be focusing their instruction and assessment around. It is our hope that this letter will begin to provide you with a clear picture of your child’s learning over the year. You can find your child’s Curriculum Term Letter on our school website under Classes & Departments and the Resources on the right hand side of the page.   For further information on the Alberta Program of Studies, please visit the Learn Alberta website: https://www.learnalberta.ca/content/mychildslearning/ Housekeeping: **Tomorrow (Wednesdays) is our library day. The Pledge of Kindness

We have been introduced to all of the sight words on our second list! Please help me review these at home. I should know all of these sight words by Spring Break. At Student Led Conferences, we will be receiving our third and final sight word list of grade one. Here is the second list: The Grade 3 Students are going to be hosting the Pink Shirt Day Assembly! You are invited to join us   on February 26th at 2:00 pm   in the gym. We will be singing songs, reciting poetry and celebrating kindness! We hope to see you there and remember to wear your PINK Shirt that day! This week our poem is about kindness. Ask me to find some sight words I know in the poem.  We are learning about how we are part of a family, a school a community and the world! We looked at Google Earth today. You can check it out at googleearth.com. We travelled to Mrs. Ly’s house today and even to Paul’s pizza (one of our students family owns this restaurant). Today they ...
