Welcome back to school! We were happy to see everyone ready to start our new 2020 School year off!
We had a busy and great first day back! We had sharing circles, where we shared what we did over the holiday break. Then we wrote about it in our writing journals. We are trying our best to write more than 2 sentences, and add lots of details to our pictures and writing.
Our sight words this week are: did, are, that, will, new
Here is our poem of the week:
We are starting floor hockey in gym. Today we learned how to hold a hockey stick properly, and we practiced moving around the gym with a bean bag for a puck.
In math we are continuing to work on our mental math skills, and ways of representing numbers. Today we reviewed all of the ways we know how to represent numbers. We are continuing to work on subtilizing, counting on, using mental math strategies such as friends of ten, and creating number sentences to make new numbers.
Important Information:
We will be learning more about measurement in math. Each child is asked to bring in a stuffie or teddy that will be used to measure and compare. Please send in a stuffie that your child can carry. An average size is great. We will be measuring height, length, and width. Your child will need to bring these in for Monday, January 13. Stuffies will stay here until we are finished, so please send one in your child can leave here for a few days :
Tomorrow is library and home reading exchange day.
It is going to be very cold the next week or so! Please help your child remember to bring warm clothes for outside time. We go outside everyday unless it is a blue day.
