Happy Valentine's Day

A HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful parents for sending in something for our special party. We had such a variety of items and it was ALL eaten.

I am bringing home a special bag with lots of valentine's cards from my friends. Please have me find some sight words and read the names of who they are from.

Here are some tips from our Occupational Therapist Ms. Kristen.

** A reminder that there is no school until Tuesday February 18.

 - Our 100 day celebration will be on Wednesday February 19. Come dressed as if you were 100 years old :)

- We will be doing our science experiment with our jars the last week of February. Please send in a clear jar with a large open mouth if you have not done so yet. Please send an extra one if you have any to. Thank you.

Jump Rope for Heart
Our kick off assembly for Jump Rope for Heart really made our hearts skip a beat! Thanks to the Calgary Skip Squad for coming and demonstrating their amazing skipping skills and endurance with us. We also appreciated Megan from the Heart and Stroke Foundation sharing all about how we can keep our hearts healthy. She shared some simple tips such as using the acronym EASY. Ask your child to tell you what each letter stands from.

As a reminder, we will be fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation throughout the month of February. Please use the instructions below to sign up to start fundraising. Please note: all fundraising will take place online.

Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread man!

We had a very exciting day full of surprises! This morning as we were learning our new poem about the gingerbread man, we discovered that our gingerbread people we made on Friday ran away!! They left us a note, and we went on a gingerbread man hunt around the school! Ask me where we had to look and where we finally found them! This afternoon we went up on stage and practiced our song for our concert this week! We are so excited to show you our Sugar Plum dance. This afternoon a package came for us! It was freezing cold and had snow on it! It came all the way from the North Pole! We opened it up and it was an Elf! We will learn what our Elf's name is tomorrow! Here is our new poem of the week and our new sight words: ran, ate, eat, he, no

What is perseverance?

Here is our first 5 words from our new sight word list! This week's words are: do all under on at This is our poem of the week: This week we are talking all about perseverance. Our poem says "I think I can"! This is a positive mindset that we are trying learn to say to ourselves even when things are hard. We listened to a story called "How to catch a star" which is about a boy who loved stars and wished he could catch his own. We counted that he tried at least 5 different ways to catch a star and did not give up until one of his ways worked! We brained stormed what perseverance is and made a list. Then, we drew pictures of a time that we thought something was hard but had to persevere to accomplish it. We drew before and after pictures of what it looks and feels like to persevere! Some of us drew about learning how to ride a bike, swim, skate, climb monkey bars, and play hockey. REMINDERS: We seem to have a fruit fly problem ...
